NEWS FOR CURRENT standard Hero OWNERS (9/16/09):
Good news. GoPro has released a firmware upgrade that increases your wide Hero camera capability from 2GB SDCards to 4GB, thus doubling the current 56 minutes of video recording time (and doubling still picture capacity). They are recommending using high speed 4GB cards called SDHC cards. An 8GB card can be used, but file size is limited to 4GB for video. Please note that this patch is ONLY for the WIDE camera. The patch for the normal camera will be available around November 15th at the same address: http://www.goprocamera.com/fwupgrade.html

There are two cameras for the HERO 5. One is a normal angle and one is a super wide-angle 170 degree camera. Both cameras function identically. They have the following modes:
Still Picture mode (5 megapixels = 2592 x 1944)
Video mode (standard TV resolution of 512 x 384)
3 picture burst mode. Takes 3 still pictures sequentially
Still Interval mode (one picture every 2 or 5 seconds. This is great for R/C vehicles)
Self-Timer mode (10 seconds)
Erase All images on disk mode
Erase Last image on disk mode
You can also connect a TV directly into the camera for instant playback of the still pictures and videos in the order that you shot them. How convenient is that!
Camera Settings:
startup mode: you define what mode to powerup into
60/50 hz power frequency: this is for use when you connect up a tv. USA is 60
LO/HI audio sensitivity
UP or Upside down: This allows you to hang the camera upside down from a roll bar, for example, and the camera will rotate the image/video
Picture Interval: allows you to choose 2 frames per second or 5 when in the picture interval mode
NTSC or PAL: Allows any TV from around the world to be connected to this camera directly.
